Today was one of my favorites. At work, we played “two truths and a lie” in order to get to know our colleagues better. Normally when I have played it, each person says 3 short statements…but with Egyptians, each “statement” was about a six minute story. So by their last one, I had forgotten what their first story was.
After work, I went on the roof of the hotel to where the pool was. I went for a swim in the pool, laid on the lounge chair, read a book, and took a nap in the warm sun. The view showed the Nile, the pyramids way in the distance, and the sky-scraping buildings.
I stayed there til sunset and then met my co-workers at The Ace Club (which is a pub that foreigners go to). It is a two-story building, but the main seating area is a grassy patio in the back…you kind of feel like you are in Ireland, and it is a nice change of scenery from the rest of the city. As we were leaving a co-worker said his massage therapist was meeting him at his flat, so we all went back and got massages. Considering at work today I fell walking up the stairs and not one person was there to laugh with me, and I was left to be embarrassed alone, the massage was good for my half-thrown out back…not too bad of a day.
